What is Maxalt?
Maxalt (rizatriptan benzoate) is a medication of the triptan family that used for the abortive treatment of migraine (headache) attacks, including sensitivity to light (or sound) vomiting and nausea in adults. It is a member of drugs called selective 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist. Maxalt works by narrowing the blood vessels around the brain.
Maxalt is very effective medicine against headache. Maxalt treats only the headache pain that already begun, but it will not prevent headaches, or reduce how often you may get a headache.
Maxalt allows you to get back to your normal work (daily routine) and may decrease your need for other medications of this class.
Maxalt may also block other pain pathways in the brain. Read the information and label before using Maxalt; use it as prescribed by your doctor.
